The product remains your responsibility
A working checkout cannot establish that an instruction is correct, a size range is complete or a finished example represents the supplied pattern. Technical editing and real pattern testing are separate tasks. We have not performed either for your product, and this publication does not certify a pattern as safe or accurate.
Protection has limits
Download restrictions and PDF stamping are controls, not a guarantee against copying. Payhip’s help limits stamping to qualifying portrait PDFs; other formats and layouts need separate consideration. Do not publish a promise of absolute protection. Balance a reasonable access policy with legitimate repeat downloads and a clear help route.
Notification is not receipt
An update can be available without every buyer receiving or opening an email. Consent settings and missing customer details affect communication. Keep the latest version information visible where appropriate and provide an order-based support route. A sent message is not proof that a customer replaced an earlier file.
Automation is not zero work
Personalised pattern work, disputed purchases and unclear packages still require judgement. Start with a modest catalogue whose responsibilities you can describe. If your main need is marketplace discovery, a course environment or bespoke production management, use a tool suited to that problem instead of stretching file checkout into an all-purpose business system.
An original working example
Keep a responsibility card beside the platform comparison. Put hosting and checkout capabilities in one column, seller responsibilities in a second, and genuinely unknown behaviour in a third. For a fictional pattern release, the platform may document file delivery while the seller still owns technical accuracy, clear format labels and customer communication. Do not move an unknown into the first column merely because a marketing page sounds comprehensive. This original exercise makes the tradeoff visible before a subscription decision. Review the card when the catalogue becomes more complex, particularly when custom work, multiple formats or continuing update promises are introduced into an otherwise simple download business.
Where the safety evidence stops
This guide draws on Adding a digital product, Product protection, Email updates, Custom digital orders. Merchant-controlled records describe the provider’s own capabilities, terms or standards; they do not independently validate those claims. These records do not establish independent confirmation of the product claims.
Verify any current price, plan limit, label direction, compatibility rule, or commercial term that would materially change the decision. The dated source ledger shows the underlying records so this conclusion can be checked and updated.
